Kargil, January 27, 2026: The Hon’ble Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today flagged off the UT Ladakh Under-17 Karate Team (Boys & Girls) for their participation in the 69th National School Games, to be held at Pune, Maharashtra.

The team is being deputed by the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSSO), UT Ladakh. A total of 10 athletes, comprising 4 boys and 6 girls, will represent UT Ladakh in the prestigious national-level championship.

While interacting with the players, the CEC encouraged the young athletes and expressed confidence that they would bring laurels to Ladakh. He highlighted that participation in such national events provides valuable exposure for students over 8 to 10 days, helping them gain competitive experience, discipline, and confidence at a higher level of sports.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by officials from the Department of Youth Services and Sports, including Ghulam Mohammad, Activities In-Charge, YSS Kargil; Mohd Ibrahim Shoqi, In-Charge ZPEO Kargil; and Mohd Hassan, PEM and Organizer, YSS Kargil.
