CEC Kargil Meets Director General of Border Roads Organisation Discusses Developmental Initiatives

Kargil, June 3, 2026: Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today met the  Director General Border Roads Organisation ( DGBR)Lt Gen. Harpal Singh, at the Council Secretariat, Kargil.

During the meeting, Dr. Akhoon extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Gen. Harpal Singh on assuming the charge of Director General Border Roads. He expressed confidence that under his dynamic leadership, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) would continue its exemplary service in strengthening infrastructure and connectivity in border regions.

The CEC conveyed his sincere gratitude to the BRO for its tireless efforts, particularly in ensuring winter road connectivity and carrying out snow clearance operations at Zojila Pass, which play a vital role in maintaining the lifeline between Ladakh and the rest of the country.

Dr. Akhoon also appreciated the significant contribution of the BRO towards the development of Kargil district through the construction of roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure projects. He remarked that these initiatives have greatly benefited the people of Kargil and have accelerated the region’s socio-economic development.

During the interaction, both sides exchanged views on various developmental issues and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between the LAHDC Kargil and the BRO. Discussions were also held regarding several ongoing infrastructure projects as well as projects proposed for future implementation in the district.

Present during the meeting were Chief Engineer, Project Vijayak, Brigadier Rahul Oberoi, and PS to DGBR, Col. Vishal Kumar.
