CEC Kargil Attends Ice Hockey Programme at Thuvina Village, Assures Support to Young Players

Kargil, January 27, 2026: The Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today attended a programme held at Thuvina village, organized by the newly formed Peak Pakhtun Thuvina Ice Hockey Team. The event was aimed at seeking guidance, encouragement, and institutional support for the new team and its aspiring players.

During the programme, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon interacted with young, talented, and energetic ice hockey players, who showcased ice hockey movements and stunts as a gesture of welcome to the Hon’ble CEC. Appreciating their skills and enthusiasm, the CEC encouraged the players to continue practicing with dedication, discipline, and high spirit.

Addressing the gathering, the CEC expressed that it was a privilege to serve the community and reaffirmed his commitment as the Councillor of the constituency to do all possible within his capacity for the welfare and development of youth and sports. He highlighted the demands submitted by the Peak Pakhtun Thuvina Ice Hockey Team and assured that efforts would be made to fulfill them in the best possible manner.

Dr. Akhoon specifically assured support for organizing ice hockey training camps, providing sports equipment, and extending institutional assistance to help nurture local talent. He further stated that, subject to the availability of suitable land and space in the future, the proposal for the construction of an ice hockey rink would be taken up and included in developmental planning.

Extending his congratulations to the players, the CEC assured that LAHDC Kargil would extend all possible support to ice hockey players to the best of its capabilities.

The villagers of Thuvina expressed their gratitude to the Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor for his visit, encouragement, and continued support. They also appreciated his role as Councillor for undertaking various developmental activities in the constituency.

Among those present on the occasion were Ahmed Ali Acting President, Ice Hockey Association Kargil, and Sadiq Ali Coach, Ice Hockey Association Kargil, along with local residents and youth.
