World Animal Day: Animal Husbandry Department Kargil address animal related issues at Drass

Drass, October 04: On the occasion of World Animal Day, Animal Husbandry Department organised an awareness camp at Drass Block to educate the public on animal welfare, scientific livestock management, and the importance of compassion towards animals.

The program was attended by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kargil Dr Gulzar Hussain, Major Hira of 16 Graneder Drass, Subidar Hamid of 16 Graneder, Block Veterinary Officer Drass Dr Mohd Amin Naqvi, Lambardar, local farmers, livestock owners, students, and community members in large numbers.

Experts from the Animal Husbandry Department and local veterinarians delivered informative sessions on animal health, vaccination, disease prevention, and improved breeding practices through artificial insemination. Special emphasis was laid on the role of the community in ensuring sustainable livestock development and the well-being of animals.

As part of the program, free feed was distributed among the beneficiaries of artificial insemination calves to support better growth and nutrition. The initiative was highly appreciated by the participants, who expressed gratitude for the timely support and guidance.

The event successfully highlighted the spirit of World Animal Day by combining awareness with practical support, reaffirming the commitment of Drass Block towards animal health, welfare, and productivity.
