Two minors drown in separate incidents in Handwara

 
Srinagar, January 1 (KMW): Two minor children drowned in two separate incidents in Handwara tehsil of northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district during past 24 hours.
A girl identified as Fayda Jan (6), daughter of Mohammad Akbar Shiekh, drowned in a well near her house in Kramboora village around 2 pm today.
She slipped into the well while playing. “Her body was recovered an hour later. She was a first standard student,” said her relative Ashiq Ahmad.
In a similar incident, two-year-old Farhan Majid, son of Abdul Majid Dar, drowned in a stream near his house in Batkote village of the district last evening.
“The family found him struggling in the stream near their house. He was immediately taken to Handwara hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” said a family member.
