Srinagar, January 1 (KMW): Thousands on Monday thronged the funeral of slain Jaish militant Fardeen Ahmad Khandey in Tral in southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Khandey was killed along with an associate Manzoor Ahmad Baba after carrying an attack on CRPF training centre in Lethpora area of Awantipora that left five CRPF personnel dead.
Men and women lined the streets as the body of 16-year-old Khandey was being marched towards a local ground in Nazneenpora village. They were raising pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans, reports said.
The first round of funeral prayers was held at the local ground in which thousands of people took part.
The southern Kashmir district is shut to mourn the militant killings.
