Srinagar Admin Imposes Strict Corona Curfew For 10 Days in Areas of Lal Bazar & Zadibal

Srinagar 24 September : District Magistrate Srinagar on Friday in its order said that there shall be strict Corona Curfew in the areas of Zadibal and Lal Bazar for a period of 10 days starting from today.

The order was issued by Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate Srinagar on Friday afternoon which emphasized that there has been a steep rise in Covid positive cases in District Srinagar in the last 24 days which needs interventional and effective measures.

Besides other points mentioned in the communique, the order said that it has observed that around 70% of the daily positive cases during these days have been detected from a few particular areas.  

The order reads “I Mohammad Aijaz (IAS) District Magistrate, Srinagar by virtue of powers vested in me under section 144 CrPC and section 3 of the National Disaster Management Act, 2005, in my capacity as the Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, Srinagar, hereby order that there shall be strict Corona Curfew in the areas of Zadibal (SMC Ward  No’s: 55-Hawal, 56-Alamgari Bazar, & 63-Kathi Darwaz) and Lal Bazar (SMC) Ward No’s: 59-Lalbazar, 60-Botshah Mohalla, 61-Umer Colony) for a period of 10 days starting from today.” 

Permissible activities during the Corona Curfew are: 

All essential services including all incidental and activities needed for smooth functioning of these activities shall be allowed to continue, both in the public and private sector. Standalone  grocery/ vegetable/ meat/ shops may also remain open and functional to ensure provisioning of essential supplies from 7:00Am to 11:00 AM only. 

There will be no hindrance to the smooth movement of goods and essential supplies. 

There shall be no restriction on the movement of Government Officials for attending offices/ duties on production of I-Cards/Official Orders. 

All development/ construction works shall be allowed to continue without any hindrance.

The vaccination drive shall not be halted. Localized mobile teams shall be constituted to provide vaccination in colonies, residential areas and containment zones.

While as non-permissible activities and restricted activities are mentioned as under:  

There shall be a 24 hour complete ‘Corona’ curfew with no movement of people except for permissible activities only, as mentioned above.

All Educational institutions shall remain closed. 

All Shopping Complexes, Bazaars, Saloons, Barber Shops, Cinema Halls, Restaurants, Sport Complexes, Gyms, Spas, Swimming Pools, Parks, Zoos, etc, shall remain closed.

No social gatherings/functions whether indoors or outdoors shall be allowed. The permitted ceiling for marriage shall be restricted to 20 persons only. The gathering at funerals shall be limited to 10 persons only. 

There will be no ingress and egress of the public permitted in these areas except in case of Medical exigencies. 

The order from DM Srinagar also said that Superintendent Engineers of R&B (PWD) shall barricade the restricted areas. It has further ordered the Chief Medical Officer to ensure intensive door to door RAT/RTPCR in the mentioned wards.

It added that Tehsildar Eidgah shall be administrator of the Red Zones and all the line departments shall coordinate/cooperate with the Administrator for the effective implementation of the order.

However, for the strict implementation of the order, SSP Srinagar has been sought for the same. (KNB)
