Republic Day-2019: Chief Secretary chairs preparatory meeting

JAMMU, DECEMBER 3(KMW): Chief Secretary, B V R Subrahmanyam Monday chaired a preparatory meeting for the upcoming Republic Day-2019 celebrations.

Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh, Principal Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Principal Secretary, Hospitality & Protocol, ADGP CID, J&K, ADGP Security, Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, IGP Security Jammu zone and other senior officers participated in the meeting. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and IGP Security Kashmir Zone participated via video conferencing.

Detailed deliberations were held regarding the venues, security arrangements, parade/band contingents of Army, CRPF, Police, School Children, showcasing of tableaus and cultural items, seating arrangements, transport/parking arrangements, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, medical aid and emergency facilities.

It was informed that main Republic Day function will be held at Jammu University Ground where the Governor will preside over the event. At Srinagar the function will be held at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.

Chief Secretary stressed on the civil and police administration to work in close coordination for organizing the functions across the state in a colourful manner, apt to the occasion.

“This is a people’s function and their participation in large numbers should be facilitated. Along with other public representatives and prominent citizens, Deputy Commissioners should extend invitation to all recently elected Panchayat and Urban Local Body representatives to grace the occasion” Chief Secretary said.

Chief Secretary asked both the Divisional Commissioners to review the Republic Day preparations in coming weeks and finalize these by end of this month. “Everybody should know their responsibilities and inter- departmental coordination should be at its best” he said and added that Divisional Commissioners/ Deputy Commissioners should also nominate event managers so as to ensure hassle-free and smooth Republic Day-2019 preparations.
