Life returns to normal in Srinagar after strike Call given by Engineer Hilal War

Srinagar, Jan 22: Life returned to normal in the civil lines and adjoining areas in the summer capital, Srinagar, today after a day-long general strike call given by All Parties Hurriyat Conference (M), senior leader and Jammu & Kashmir People’s Political Party (PPP) Chairman, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War was observed followed by massive protests in the memory of more than 50 people who were killed in alleged security force firing at Gaw Kadal near here.
Shops and business establishments were open and traffic was also plying in the civil lines, including Budshah Chowk, Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the city, Gaw Kadal, Maisuma, Koker Bazar, Red cross road, Exchange Road, Hari Singh High Street and Madina Chowk.
Processions by different separatist organisations were taken out in Gaw Kadal area of the city on the occasion yesterday.
