World Famous  Filmmaker Ayesha Zaki Interview

Nicky Fire is a Canadian singer and rapper born in Zimbabwe. With roots in Zimbabwe, Portugal, and Mozambique, she brings global energy, raw honesty, and fire to every track she makes.

On the story behind her name.

“My stage name, Nicky Fire, is deeply personal. ‘Nicky’ comes from Nicolatte — that’s what my family and friends have always called me. It felt natural to bring that part of me into my music.

‘Fire’ is my personality. I’ve always had a strong, energetic spirit. Fire represents confidence, transformation, and standing out. The name actually came from my mom. She once told me, ‘Your personality is like fire, so why not make Fire part of your name?’ The moment she said it, I knew that was me.

Nicky Fire is identity + passion + power.”

On childhood and roots

“I was born in Zimbabwe and I’m proudly Zimbabwean, Portuguese, and Mozambican. I had a beautiful childhood filled with love and support. My parents gave me strong values and encouraged me to chase my dreams.

At 13, I moved to Canada. It was a big transition, but music stayed constant. I joined the choir in primary school and that’s where I first fell in love with performing.

As I grew older, I connected deeply with rap and hip-hop. I loved the storytelling, the confidence, the way it gives people a voice. For me, rap isn’t just music — it’s how I share my story, my culture, and who I am.

In 2024, I officially stepped into my career as a recording artist and rapper. I’m bringing my background, energy, and experiences into music that I hope connects across cultures and generations.”

On her academic journey

“I studied in Montreal in both French and English schools and completed high school in a bilingual environment.

After that, I followed my passion for wellness. I became a certified personal trainer because I wanted to understand the human body and help people reach their health goals.

Later, I went to beauty school and earned my diploma as an esthetician. My goal was to understand the spa and wellness industry so I could one day run my own business.

Both paths taught me about self-care, confidence, and empowerment — values I now bring into my music and brand too.”

On musical inspiration

“My biggest inspiration is my own journey — the struggles, wins, dreams, family, and everything I’ve lived.

Growing up I listened to legends like LL Cool J, Missy Elliott, Eve, Soulja Boy, Remy Ma, and Trina. Their creativity and confidence showed me the power of hip-hop.

Later, African artists like AKA and Stogie T inspired me even more. They proved that as an African artist, you can own hip-hop and still represent where you come from. They opened doors globally, and they showed me I could do the same.”

On future projects

“I’m focused on creating more music and working on my upcoming album. I want to release songs that reflect my journey and vision, plus high-quality music videos to bring those stories to life.

One of my biggest goals is to sign with a major label that believes in my talent. I’m building my brand every day and working toward music that inspires people around the world.”

On life goals

“I want to become one of the biggest and most influential female rappers in the world. I want to change the game with authenticity, passion, and purpose.

My music is about my journey — struggles, victories, and dreams. I want to give people hope and motivation.

I dream of being an international artist who breaks barriers and proves that women are a powerful force in hip-hop. Like Michael Jackson, I want to touch millions of lives and leave a legacy that lasts.”

On India

“Absolutely, I’d love to visit India. It’s a country with incredible history, traditions, food, and spirituality. I have a lot of respect for Indian people — their warmth, family values, and kindness.

I’ve even experienced some of the culture personally. India is on my list. I want to explore, meet people, and create memories there.”

On life in Canada

“Life in Canada has been amazing. I’m so grateful. Canada gave me freedom, diversity, and the chance to chase my dreams.

It’s a place where people from all backgrounds can build something meaningful. Canada has allowed me to grow as a person, build my businesses, and pursue my rap career. I’m thankful for every opportunity here.”

Her message to the world

“Never give up on your dreams. No matter your age or background, believe in yourself and keep going.

Don’t let fear or doubt stop you. The universe is there to guide you. What you desire already desires you.

With faith, determination, and action, you can create the life you want. Keep dreaming. Keep believing. You have the power to make it happen.”
