SRINAGAR: In a significant statement, Chief Patron Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA) Muhammad Azam Inqilabi Saturday charged Indian government with resorting to “state-terrorism†and creating “political suffocation†in Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Inqilabi said situation is under some control only due to efforts of resistance leadership.
“But it is ironical that a police officer claims that to maintain peace pro-freedom leadership is being kept under house arrest,†he said.
He said ‘peace of graveyard’ is prevailing from Srinagar to Muzaffarabad. “Here it is due to Indian repression and in Azad Kashmir due to inaction of leadership there.â€
MeA patron said Kashmiris are not being allowed even to mourn their dead.
“In order to counter the Indian repression peaceful political resistance movement should be started from Srinagar to Muzaffarabad,†the press statement reads.
Inqilabi appealed resistance leadership on either sides of Loc to organize programs from 11-13 August to stress on the importance of right of self-determination.
He said on Aug.11, 2008 people marched peacefully towards Uri in a bid to demolish the Loc.
“Indian troops fired on this procession and martyred nearly a dozen people including veteran resistance leader Sheikh Aziz near Chayal in Uri.â€
He said similarly 22 people were martyred on Aug.12, 2008 when they were protesting against the incident of Uri.
“On Aug. 13, 1948 UN passed resolution on Kashmir which supports our unfettered right of self-determination and makes us prime party to the dispute,†he said.
MeA patron said Sheikh Aziz gave his life for the same cause for which Martyr Maqbool Bhat did the same in 1984.
He said both the leaders sacrificed their lives for “end to Indian occupation, demolition of Loc, unification of forcibly divided parts of Kashmir and for enabling Kashmiris to determine their future through a democratic verdict.â€
Inqilabi said, “All martyrs of Kashmir sacrificed their lives for the same cause.â€
He appealed Pakistan to keep in consideration sacrifices of six lakh Kashmiris and of thousands of Pakistanis who offered their lives in Bangladesh, Punjab and along Afghan border.
“Our demand of self-determination shouldn’t get sacrificed on the altar of cross Loc trade of onions and potatoes,†he added.

He said Pakistan should stress on tripartite talks to find a way to solve Kashmir issue peacefully. (KMW News)Â
