Mumbai: IDBI Bank Ltd, one of the registrars for enrolment of residents under Aadhaar project of UIDAI, launched an enrolment drive on pilot scale for its employees at corporate office here today. The function was graced by Prashant Singh, Assistant Director General of UIDAI, and Gurudutta Rai, Assistant Director General of UIDAI. The first person in the bank to be enroled was Mr R M Malla, chairman and managing director of the Bank.
Aadhaar is a means for residents to easily and effectively establish their identity, to any Agency, anywhere in the country, without having to repeatedly produce identity documentation.
Speaking on the sidelines of the launch programme, Mr Malla said that the Bank perceived Aadhaar as a mighty tool to empower the common person by facilitating him/her access to a modern financial system of the country as also a step towards a sustainable and inclusive growth, which in turn was essential for building an equitable society. Mr Singh explained the features and benefits of the UIDAI.
IDBI Bank has floated a Request For Proposal (RFP) for selection of Enrolment Agencies for similar launches at all its branches across the country. Bank has ambitious plan to enrol more than 2.50 crore Indian citizens including its customers, their family members and walk-ins all over the country.
