Div Com for better facilities at Kargil, Leh airports

SRINAGAR, MARCH 08: Divisional Commissioner Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today reviewed the working of Leh and Kargil airports and directed the concerned officials to upgrade facilities for the betterment of general public.
While chairing a meeting with officials from Air Force and concerned district administrations via video conferencing, Dr Samoon said that for coming tourist season Air Force is handing over some land to civilian authorities to cater to increased tourist arrival. The measures regarding parking facility of planes at the airport were also discussed.
Dr Samoon said that the region is expecting a huge tourist rush and everything should be set in order to avoid any inconvenience to the tourists.
Regarding Kargil, the Divisional Commissioner asked the authorities of Air Force to increase the sorties to evacuate the stranded passengers from Kargil. Dr Samoon said in view of little snowfall this year BRO is working hard to clear the Zojila road for resumption of traffic before March 15.
