Kargil, August 02: The Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, chaired the second preparatory meeting regarding the “Har Ghar Tiranga” and “Har Ghar Swachhata” Abhiyan with Block Development Officers (BDOs), Junior Engineers (JEs), Executive Engineers (ExEns), and other concerned officers.
During the meeting, it was informed that the “Har Ghar Swachhata Abhiyan” will be formally launched on 8th August. The DC directed all Executive Engineers to take up cleaning of water resources in their respective areas on priority. He also instructed BDOs to ensure overall cleanliness in their blocks, with special attention to public spaces and surroundings.
A massive Safai Abhiyan (Clean-Up Drive) will be undertaken from 9th to 11th August, focusing on the cleaning of drains, sewage systems, and public spaces. Strict enforcement of the plastic ban was emphasized, and the DC instructed officers to levy penalties for violations.
Under the banner of “Azadi Ka Shramdaan”, all stakeholders and officers have been directed to organize area-wise cleanliness drives, including street cleaning and sanitation of community spaces.
To raise awareness among students and the public, painting and decoration of water-stressed areas, accompanied by patriotic songs, will be organized by educational institutions.
The DC also emphasized that under the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, national flags must be hoisted at every household. He directed BDOs to ensure widespread participation and flag distribution so that every home proudly displays the Tiranga.
On 13th August, a Swachhata Dialogue and Awareness Day will be conducted across the district, involving local communities and schoolchildren.
In conclusion, Shri Rakshesh Kumar, IAS, stressed the importance of community-driven sanitation efforts and called upon all BDOs to strictly adhere to the directions. He further instructed the deputation of Village Level Workers (VLWs) in every Panchayat, ensuring that every village reflects the true spirit of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” and “Har Ghar Swachhata” campaigns.
