Chief Secretary reviews progress of USB Rail Link Project

JAMMU, DECEMBER 28(KMW): Chief Secretary, B B Vyas Thursday chaired the 6th Apex Committee meeting here to review the progress of Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project.

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), USBRL Project, Administrative Secretaries of the Departments of Planning, Power Development, Forest, Revenue, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Deputy Commissioners of Reasi & Ramban and other senior officers of the State Government and Railway Authorities were present in the meeting.

The latest status in regard to land acquisition in various sections of the Katra-Banihal Rail line in Reasi and Ramban districts and 132 KV Transmission Line from Katra to Reasi and Ramban to Sangaldan was reviewed in the meeting.

Chief Secretary noted with satisfaction the progress achieved in resolution of bottlenecks and asked DCs of Reasi and Ramban districts to complete the land acquisition proceedings at the few remaining project sites in the next 10 days. The Forest Department was also asked to expedite the proceedings in regard acquisition of forest land.

Chief Secretary asked the Railway Authorities to ensure that the pending compensation amount on account of land acquisition is released to the DCs immediately for timely disbursement to the land owners.

The progress on the project will again be reviewed in the 2nd week of January, 2018.
