Srinagar: More than 500 patients, including women and children, were treated and provided free medicine in a medical camp organised by the Army for the people of far-flung and remote areas in the Kashmir valley.
A Defence Ministry spokesman said here today that a medical camp was organised at Niru to provide medical assistance to local and people of other far-flung areas.
He said the camp was a great success as more than 500 people from different areas turned up.
A group of the Army doctors supported by few civil doctors, including a lady gynaecologist, treated the patients, including 169 women, in the camp.
Mr Sorawar Mir, Sarpanch of Humander village thanked the Army on behalf of the locals for organising this large scale event as most of the remote villages lack basic amenities especially that of medical aid.
They also expressed that such events will go a long way in strengthening the brotherhood amongs Awam and Jawans.
