World Health Day celebrated at GDC Zanskar

Kargil, April 08, 2024: World Health Day was celebrated today at GDC Zanskar under the theme “my health, my right”.

The day is celebrated all over the world on 07 April every year to raise awareness about the pressing health issues and promote healthy lifestyle.

A series of events were held to mark the day. A 400 metre race in men’s and women’s categories were organized that highlighting the importance of health and well being.

In men’s category, Stanzin Dawa of 6th Semester bagged first place, while as Jigmet Akar of 2nd semester and Tsering Dorjay of 6th Semester were adjudged 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. 

In women’s 400 metre race, Tsewang Dolma of 4th Semester clinched 1st position whereas Shabana Akhtar of 4th Semester and Tsering Yangdol of 2nd semester stood at 2nd position and 3rd positions respectively.

A yoga session was also held in which students and faculty members participated. Yoga instructor Mustafa Ali, Director College Sports and Physical Education highlighted the importance of Yoga for mental peace and wellness. He performed different postures and moves along with students and faculty members.

Incharge Principal, Mohd Ishaq threw light on the importance of health in the age of rapidly changing lifestyle. He also urged the audience to express gratitude to the health workers for their contribution in the society.

In the end, certificates and awards were distributed among the position holders of the race. The event concluded with vote of thanks by Sajjad Hussain, Assistant Professor of the college.
