In the Group ‘A’ Day-Night World Cup Cricket match being played at Hambantota, co-hosts Sri Lanka were 332 for seven in 50 overs against Canada, a short while ago. Sri Lanka elected to bat after winning the toss.
Earlier, in another Group ‘A’ fixture at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai today, New Zealand thumped Kenya by 10 wickets in a lop-sided match. Batting first, Kenya were all out for 69 in 23.5 overs. The Kiwis overhauled the target of 70 in just eight overs.
It is the second fastest win in the history of the tournament. The fastest win ever was recorded by Sri Lanka against Canada in the 2003 edition at Paarl in South Africa.
