Srinagar, April 15: In a viral video of a teacher at Private Coaching center located at Paraypora Srinagar a teacher is seen repeatedly slapping a student 20 times which has evoked massive criticism after it went viral on social media platforms.
The student was seen getting slapped repeatedly by his Chemistry teacher at Hope Classes- a private coaching centre in Srinagar.
DC Srinagar took immediate cognisance of the matter and directed action against the said teacher .
The DC office directed imposition of relevant right to education laws against the erring teacher for his horrendous act of corporal punishment and directed both coaching institute and teacher to be present before court .
On his part , Managing Director of Hope Classes Parraypora while admitting that the teacher has done an offence by serving corporal punishment to his student and said that there is no logical justification which can defend the incident. He also assured that action on part of the institution will be initiated against the accused teacher.
Prominent Student rights activist Nasir Kuehami , while talking to the Kashmir Media Watch stated :”What Actually Happened in Parraypora.
Spoke to Colleague of Fayaz Sb Who happens to teach chemistry at Hope Classes Parraypora. This Colleague was accompanying with him the day this incident happened. The Student after completing his 3rd class on Friday tried to leave for home without attending the last class. However was stopped by Coordinator of Centre and taken into the classroom. After that story whatever happened is in video and in front of You. Teacher has been Called by Police station in this Regard.
I have no personal wrong notion with Fayaz Sb. But Nothing can justify his humiliation & Violence. Hitting a student in front of the entire class is unacceptable & can lead to Severe Mental Problem & Extreme Step. The brutality is Unacceptable. The long lasting effects on him can genuinely be disastrous. Hope Strict action will be initiated against him as prescribed by law. The section 85, which could be incorporated in the Juvenile Justice Act, spells a jail term of up to one year or fine or both in case a child is hurt and emotionally distressed. I repeat No one can Justify this Behavior. Rest he is very much Humble and down to earth that his humbleness is evident in this Video.”
