Urdu Academy organizes Iqbal Day, releases five books

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Academy today organized an impressive function here at Srinagar to remember the Urdu poet ‘Alama Iqbal’ on his birth anniversary.
The Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof. Talat Ahmad was the chief guest while renowned critics, poets and writers, Mr. Ghulam Qadir Baidar, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Khayal, Mr. Abdul Gani Madhosh and Mr. Noorshah were guest of honour.
Addressing the function the Vice Chancellor threw light on the development of Urdu language and stressed for the whole hearted support for the development of Urdu language. He mentioned the contribution of Alama Iqbal, the great poet to the mankind and his message of brotherhood, humanity, patriotism will remain source of inspiration to all the people.
During the course of function three Kashmir University who have secured first three positions in MA Urdu 2010 were felicitated with Omer Majid Award and Certificates.
Those who were felicitated on the occasion were Mr. Irshad Ahmad Hajam (First), Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Wani (Second) and Mr. Tariq Ahmad Rather (third) belonging to Tral, Tangmarg and Qazigund areas.
Five books namely, “Awraq”, “Rait Kay Dowray” and “On education” by Nazir Qadri and “Khonan Nawa” and “Seal-i-Aashiq”by Irfan Turabi were released on the occasion. Ashraf Aasari gave a detail introduction of these books.
Earlier, President JK Urdu Academy, Mr. Noorshah gave introductory speech while Dr. Indrabi gave the detailed lecture on the Iqbaliyat.
Among other dignitaries who were present on the occasion include Hasrat Gadda, Showkat Ahmad Bhat, Ghulam Rasool Azad, Zareef Ahmad Zareef, Jhan Mohammad Azad, Nasir Mirza and a galaxy of writers and poets.
