Two girls drown in Valley

Srinagar: Two girls drowned in Anantnag and Kupwara districts of Kashmir Valley, official sources told.  They said a 13-year-old Rukaya daughter of Mohammad Iqbal Bakarwal of Aaru Pahalgam drowned in River Lidder near her native village in southern Anantnag districts. Efforts to retrieve body of the girl were on, they said.Separately, 11-year-old Shafiqa Bano daughter of Assadullah Khooru drowned in Nallah Pahroo at Sonwani, Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The body of the girl was fished out and handed was over to relatives for last rites, they said. Shifiqa drowned while swimming in the Nallah, they added.
