Srinagar: Army on Tuesday said that 27 militants were active in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region, even as attempts were being made by the neighboring country to push more militants in Jammu and Kashmir.“27 militants, associated with Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Harkar-ul-Jihad Islami (HUJI) are active in Rajouri and Poonch districts,†General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Army’s northern command Lt General K T Parnaik told reporters after visiting forward areas in Poonch – Rajouri and Nowshera Sector.Army, he said was in a state of alert even as the internal situation is Pakistan was forcing militants to flee the country and sneak into Jammu and Kashmir. Besides it, he said efforts were being made by Pakistan to push in more militants into the state.“Around 16 training camps exist in Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PaK). We’re fully prepared to foil any attempts by the neighboring country to create disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir,†he said.Parnaik said that to thwart any possible infiltration, Army was maintaining a tight vigil along the LoC using night vision equipment. He also said that Army will realign the fence along the LoC near Keran Post, Poonch.
