Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Government today said two committees have been constituted to study the issue of withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from some parts of the state.
The question was raised by MLA Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan whether it is a fact that the government is committed to withdraw AFSPA and other draconian laws in a phased manner from the State.
The government in a written reply said, ‘government is committed to gradual withdrawal of AFPSA from the state.’ ‘Two committees have been constituted one each for Jammu and Kashmir regions to look into the areas from where the Act could be withdrawn,’ the government replied.
The government further said the committees held a number of meetings, adding, ‘the recommendations of the committees will be acted upon as soon as the same are submitted to the government.’ (KMW NEWS)
