The crisis between USA and Russia seem to be taking world to new global crisis as the tensions over the Ukraine have flared to unprecedented heights. With Crimea going for referendum to secede from Ukraine and join Russia which USA and West deems illegal and Russia deems legal the situation looks turning worse.More than 95% of Crimean voters backed joining Russia, local officials said. Moscow says it will happily accept the result.
The EU and US say the vote is illegal in Crimea, where pro-Russian forces took control in February.US President Barack Obama has warned Moscow that Washington is also ready to impose “costs” over its actions in Ukraine.
On the otherhand,the new authorities in Kiev say Russian troops moved in to Crimea after Ukraine’s pro-Moscow president, Viktor Yanukovych, was ousted following months of street protests.
In a brazen development, a leading anchor on Russian state television on Sunday described Russia as the only country capable of turning the United States into “radioactive ash”, in an incendiary comment at the height of tensions over the Crimea referendum.
“Russia is the only country in the world realistically capable of turning the United States into radioactive ash,” anchor Dmitry Kiselyov said on his weekly news show on state-controlled Rossiya 1 television.
Grim realities suggest that if the tensions are not cooled down by sane mediation the world could be headed for third world war as currently both Russia and USA are loaded with devastating weapons.
