JAMMU, JANUARY 06(KMW): Noted Kashmiri Poet Sunita Raina Pandit’s new book “The Call of Silence†was released in an event organized by Samooh Theatre (Women Wing) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) at KL Sehgal Hall here today.
Chief Information Commissioner (CIC), Khurshid Ahmad Ganai presided over the function where as Secretary, JKAACL Dr Aziz Hajini was the chief guest on the occasion.
The critical appreciation on the book was presented by noted scholar and broadcaster KK Lidhu.
Speaking on the occasion, the CIC called for promotion of literary art to preserve linguistic and cultural heritage. He applauded Sunita Raina for being an inspiration to many young poets and said that she has a wide range of poetic imagination that is clearly reflected through her work.
He exhorted upon the need to organize literary festival exclusively for the writers of Kashmiri language. He further laid stressed on facilitation of all writers of regional languages to inspire new generation as the writers and poets have an important role to play in promoting the regional languages.
Secretary, JKAACL Dr Aziz Hajini, in his address, said that Sunita Raina is carrying forward the legacy of traditional Kashmiri poetry and also expressed his concern over running away of young generation from local ethos and culture.
Author of the book Sunita Raina Pandit described the book as a mirror of experiences of Kashmiri Pandit community with an essence of realistic touch. She said that she has attempted to put up several social issues through her poems in ghazal form. She also recited her poems on the occasion which were highly appreciated by the audience.
Prominent among others present on the occassion were, MLC Giridhari Lal Raina , President Women Wing, Samooh Theatre, Anita Chandpuri, Avatar Krishan Hugami Bashir Bhaderwahi , Brij Nath Betab , Prem Nath Shad , Makhan Lal Saraf , M H Zaffar, Aiyash Aarif , Shabir Mujhid , Santosh Nadaan besides a large number of writers and poets.
