Srinaga: The 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh national highway has been closed due to landslides triggered by heavy rains, official sources said here today.
Heavy overnight rains triggered landslides at Bajrinallah on this side of the Zojila pass forcing authorities to suspend traffic this morning.
Several vehicles were stranded on both sides of the Zojila pass.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway, linking the Ladakh region with the rest of the state has pressed into service sophisticated machines and men to put through the highway, the sources said.
