SKIMS receives supply of reagents and chemicals for H1N1 Influenza tests

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 27(KMW): SKIMS has today received supply of reagents and chemicals for testing 500 patients for H1N1 Influenza. Following the Governor’s intervention, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi, has arranged this supply for the use of SKIMS Influenza Laboratory.
The review held today by the Governor, Mr. N.N. Vohra, disclosed that a total of 10745 patients have so far been seen in OPD in the two medical Colleges and various hospitals of the State. 1653 persons were seen in OPD today of whom 1443 were seen in Kashmir and 210 in Jammu. Of the total 155 samples taken for H1N1 in Jammu Division: 18 cases have been tested positive, 54 negative, reports are awaited in 83 cases and 24 patients have been admitted till date. Director Health Services Jammu today issued 2500 Tamiflu tablets to SMGS Hospital and 230 tablets to GMC Jammu. In Srinagar, 5 patients are admitted in GMC, where 1070 patients were seen in OPD.
In SKIMS, 170 patients were seen in OPD and 10 test samples were taken; 181 cases have tested positive for H1N1 Influenza so far. 2 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours and 09 patients remain admitted in the Isolation Ward.
Meanwhile, the team of experts deputed by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is scheduled to arrive in Jammu on Saturday, the spokesperson added.
For monitoring the day to day activities in the districts relating to H1N1 Influenza the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) has deputed Deputy Director Headquarters; Deputy Director Schemes; Assistant Director Schemes to North, South and Central Kashmir Divisional Headquarters respectively.
