Srinagar: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, R.S. Chib Friday said that all possible measures have been taken to revive sports activities in Jammu and Kashmir during last two years as it had experienced set back during previous two decades of uncertainty.
The Minister was addressing a press conference organized by International Sports Academy Trust (ISAT) on the event of flagging off 6 football players of Kashmir to Brazil this evening.
These football players will attend special football course and coaching in Brazil.
The MLC, D.S. Oberoi, Director Information, Khawaja Farooq Renzushah, Secretary Sports Council, Kiran Wattal, members of Sports Council and prominent sport lovers besides other dignitaries were present in an impressive flag off ceremony.
On the occasion, besides felicitating 6 Kashmiri players including Basharat Bashir Baba from Pulwama, Masood Maqbool from Srinagar, Imran Bhat from Srinagar, Abid Yaqoob from Budgam, Muzamil Mahmood Dar from Ganderbal and Tahir Maqbool from Bandipora, other dignitaries were also honoured.
The Minister also appreciated the working of other football associations in this field and said that they have also contributed a lot in promoting football activities in the state. He said all the effective associations and organizations who have zeal and zest to contribute in any sports field and train our children in sports activities and project them at national and international level are required to be encouraged.
Mr. Chib said that these boys will be able to get self confidence and exposure by visiting Brazil. He said that state government has got 3 football fields, two in Jammu and one in Kashmir from Union Sports Ministry.
The Minister also replied many questions posed by the media persons regarding development of sports and sports association.
The Minister also released a brochure and website having all information regarding ISAT.
The Minister said that he was personally monitoring the sports activities initiated by ISAT in the valley and is convinced about the coaching services provided by the international football coach Mr. Jhon Marcos Troia.
Earlier, Mr. Marcos briefed press regarding the sports activities carried out by the ISAT in valley during the current year and informed that six academies and six sub academies have been set up in different localities of the valley. He said3000 youth are involved with ISAT football development.
