Baramulla, Feb 18: Amid shutdown, the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) sparked a massive protest in Uri town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. All the shops and other business establishments remained while locals including traders took out a march demanding rollback of the Act from the State.
The protesting locals told news agency they have decided to boycott the ration distribution under this Act which according to them is anti-people aimed at to starve the common inhabitants of Kashmir Valley. “It is insulting to distribute 5 KGs of ration per head. We are boycotting the ration as it is insufficient, “they added.
In Bhadra Payeen Qaziabad area of Langate Constituency in North Kashmir people also took to streets to protest against the implementation of NFSA saying that the new law deprives them of ration.
Anti-NFSA protests were held during past two days across Kashmir valley with people pressing for its rollback.
