Srinagar, Feb 18: Former Deputy Chief Minister and Bhartiya Janata Party senior leader Dr Nirmal Singh Thursday said the meeting between BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav and People’s Democratic Party leader Mehbooba Mufti ended on a positive note and both the parties have agreed to continue the alliance in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Ram Madhav told me that his hour long meeting with Mehbooba Mufti ended on positive lines and hopefully both the parties will form the government in the state in coming days. It is absolutely wrong that BJP has acceded to some of the demands of PDP as has been circulated in a section of press. PDP has not set any conditions but yes that party has some reservations over some issues and we have officially assured them that Agenda of Alliance will be pursued and followed in letter and spirit,” Singh told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS adding BJP leaders will convene a meeting before taking any final decision of the government formation.
Responding to a question, Nirmal Singh said that returning of power projects from NHPC didn’t figure in the meeting. “PDP did not set any condition during the meeting but it was stressed upon that both parties (PDP/BJP) should govern on the basis of already formulated Agenda of Alliance,” he said.
Pertinently, the first official meeting between PDP and BJP took place on Wednesday evening. It was the first meeting over government formation after the demise of Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed on 7 January this year.
