Srinagar, Dec 2 (KMW): Station House Officer (SHO) was killed and six people including three police personnel were reportedly in a militant attack on police outside Chodoora police station.
A militant out-fit Al- Nasereen has claimed the responsibility of the attack.
The reports received by KMW, mentioned that a militant opened indiscriminate fire on the police party, injuring three policemen, including SHO Sub Inspector Shabir Ahmad.
The injured were shifted to hospital where the SHO succumbed to his injuries. The other two injured police personnel are Constable Mohammad Shafi and SPO Firdous Ahmad.
The spokesman of the Militant Out-fit Al- Nasereen, Sami-ul-Haq in a statement issued to News Agency claimed the responsibility of the attack.
Meanwhile, the encounter broke out at North Kashmir’s Rajpora Handwara wherein three militants are reportedly inside the residential house. The reports informed that Police, SOG and 21 RR have cordoned the area and the encounter was going on till the last reports came in.
The details further informed that after the tip-off the police along with SOG and 21RR started the massive search hunts in the area of Rajpora, Rajwara, Shart mohalla Handwara. The militants hidden in the house started firing on the police party.
The police confirmed that three militants are inside the house.
According to a police handout, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, A G Mir while speaking to the reporters at the wreath laying ceremony said that today afternoon, unknown militants attacked a police party at a busy market place in Chadoora in Budgam District.
The Station House officer of the police station Chadoora, Sub-Inspector Shabir Ahmad got martyred in the attack. Two policemen and a civilian were also injured in the attack. He said that the militants managed to escape from the place taking advantage of rush of people in the market.
The IGP added that the police party reacted cautiously to avoid any civilian injuries. Investigation has been started and search operations for nabbing the terrorists have been started at many places.
IGP said: “Our resolve to fight the terrorism has got strengthened and we will track them down to the last terrorist.†Earlier a wreath laying ceremony for martyred police officer Shabir Ahmad was held at DPL, Srinagar.
The wreath laying ceremony was attended by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Sh. Shalinder Kumar, Inspector General of Police Kashmir A G Mir, IG CRPF ops Nalin Prabhat, IGP Yogender Koul, IG CRPF P K Singh, IGP Armed T. Phunsung, DIG CRPF H S Rawat, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Shah, SSP Srinagar SAH Bukhari, SP Budgam Mohammad Arshad and many officers of different wings of Police, Civil, security forces officers and jurisdictional SP’s and SDPO’s of Srinagar police.
The two policemen injured in the attack have been shifted to the SMHS Hospital while as the civilian Ghulam Mohammad son of Mohammad Ramzan resident of Chadoora has been referred to SKIMS, Soura Srinagar for treatment.
The deceased SHO Shabir Ahmad is survived by his wife, five young children and an aged father.
