Shaheed football tournament kick starts at Eidgah

SRINAGAR : Exhibition match of Shaheed football tournament was played between SRTC and Chinar Valley Sports Gonderpora at historical football ground Eidgah here today, which ended in drawn. Both the teams played well and brought back the glory of the game in the area. The tournament has been organized by Chinar Valley Sports, Gonderpora.
A large number of people and sports lovers from surroundings of Edigah witnessed the match and appreciated the efforts of the Organization for conducting the tournament.
The tournament was aimed to promote sports activities in the area besides keeping youth away from social evils. Seeking Government support for promotion of sports activities in the area, the organizers would work to revive fully the football game they said, Eidgah has its own history and has produced veteran footballers in the State. They appealed Government to come forward and develop fully the piece of land identified for the football ground.
The first match of the tournament will be played on Sunday September 2,2012 for which all the arrangements stands finalized.(KMW NEWS)
