Pune: Five low-intensity explosions rocked the cultural capital of Maharashtra last evening on the eve of ‘Raksha bandhan’ festival, i
njuring at least three people.
The first explosion occurred at Bal Gandharv theatre on the busy Jangli Mahraj Road, second at Garware College and three subsequent bomb blasts occurred at J M Road. The sixth bomb was defused by Anti-Terrorism Squad officials in the area, police said.
Though there has been no official confirmation of the casualties, three people are believed to have been injured, said city police comissionner Gulabrao Pol here.
A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) is on its way here from Delhi to ascertain the cause of explosion and further investigations, police added.
