Mumbai: The benchmark Index of the Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd rose marginally by 4.58 per cent to 16,503.05 points in the opening session following renewed demand from local operators. Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also advanced by 7.60 points at 4,956.50.Though, the Sensex declined by 7 points to 16,490.78, it immediately improved becasue of buying in CD, Realty and CG stocks.
The heavyweight scrips like Hindalco Industries, HDFC, Cipla, DLF, Hind Unilever maintained its positive trend for the third session today in the opening trade.Consumer Durable, Realty, Bankex, Capital Goods, PSU and Metal were seen strong while IT, Tech, Auto and FMCG stocks were down. Sensex registered intra day high and low at 16,533.22 and 16,405.50 points respectively. Nifty recorded the intra day high and low at 4,962.40 and 4,918.65 points respectively.The gainers were Hindalco Industries by 1.65 per cent to Rs 148.15, HDFC by 1.54 per cent to Rs 655.20, Cipla by 1.27 per cent to Rs 286.15, Sterlite Industries by 1.22 per cent to Rs 128.90 and Hind Unilever by 1.02 per cent to Rs 320.50.The losers were Jindal Steel by 2.42 per cent to Rs 491.60, Coal India by 1.93 per cent to Rs 384.35, Tata Power by 1.78 per cent to Rs 1065.80 and TCS by 1.31 per cent to Rs 966.65.
