Srinagar: Terming the Self-Rule and Autonomy as mere publicity stunts on part of some political parties, State Congress Chief Professor Saif-u-Din Soz Thursday said that Congress party will leave no stone unturned in safeguarding the internal autonomy of the people of the J&K as enshrined in the Constitution of India in the form of Article 370 of the Constitution of India.

Addressing a party convention at Town Hall Budgam in Central Kashmir, Prof Saif-u-Din Soz without naming NC and PDP said that those who advocate Autonomy or Self-Rule for the state are living in fool’s paradise. “State of Jammu and Kashmir has already autonomous status in the form of Article 370 which this state is enjoying under Indian Constitution,” he said.
He emphasized that this Article will ever remain as an integral part of the Constitution of India.
He criticized the state government for not empowering Panchayati institutions. He lashed out at National Conference for ignoring the wishes of village representatives and not implementing the 73rd amendment of the Panchayati Raj.
Soz said that government is delaying the process of empowering Panchayati Institutions in state of Jammu and Kashmir. “The government had promised them of empowerment but undue delay in this regard is giving rise to numerous doubts,” he said.
