Srinagar: The recitation of Quran and special prayer marked the onset of Hafta Shouda (martyrs week) to mark the 23rd anniversary of Shaheed-i-Millat Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, 11th anniversary of Shaheed-e-Hurriyat Abdul Gani Lone, Hawal martyrs and lakhs of other martyrs across Jammu and Kashmir
The Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar convened the biggest prayer and Quranic recitation session at Mirwaiz Manzil here. The session which was presided over by the Anjuman head, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was attended by prominent religious figures, intellectuals, social activists, students and people from cross section of society.
During the prayers session, the participants offered special prayers for the Shaheed-e-Millat, lakhs of other martyrs and for the freedom of Kashmir. Following the prayers, a Quranic recitation competition was organized by the Anjuman during which was attended by the students of noted madrassas.
Students of Hanfia Arabi College Noorbagh Srinagar, Islamia Oriental College, Rajouri Kadal Srinagar, Dar-ul-uloom Alnooria, Noorabad Durnoo Lolab, Dar-ul-uloom Sbaiu-ul-Irshad Baramulla, Dar-ul-uloom Bilalia Lal bazaar, Dar-ul-uloom Naqashbandiya Srinagar, Nusrat-ul-Islam Dooru, Al Noor Trust Tangmarg, Dar-ul-uloom Suvat-ul-Islam watergam, Dar-ul-uloom Sopore, Madras Gulshan Qasimiya, and many more institutions participated in the competetion.
Qari Mujahid-ul-Islam of Dar-ul-Uloom Bilalia bagged the first position for the best recitation of Quran. He was followed by Qari Wasim of Suvat-ul-Islam Sopore for second and Qari Mohammad Hassan Banday of Alhuda Bemina for third position.
The fourth position was awarded to Qari Akhiar-u-Din. The winners were awarded prizes by the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
The Mirwaiz also convened a seminar entitled “Social, Political, and religious contribution of Shaheed-e-Millat†organized by the AAC Zone Nawakadal. A large number of party activists, students, workers, and general public participated in the seminar and paid rich tributes to Saheed-e-Millat and martyrs of 2008, 2010 and of last 20 years.
Moualana Abbas Ansari, chief guest on the occasion, while addressing the gathering paid rich tributes to Shaheed-e-Millat, martyrs of Kashmiri freedom struggle, said that the people have offered their life, property in order to show their relentless attachment with the freedom struggle. He said the fight for liberation would continue till it would reach its logical conclusion.
While detailing out the significance of observing Hafta Shouda week, Mirwaiz appealed people, party workers and activists to make May 21 march to Edigah a success. He said that their association with freedom struggle goes back to 1931. He said that AAC was not an accidentally formed, but it was formed by the then resistance leaders and the founding father of freedom struggle, Mirwaiz Moulvi Yousuf Shah in 1931. Mirwaiz claimed that AAC represents the continuity of the freedom struggle from there onwards.
He said Mahajr-e-Millat, , Mirwaiz Moulvi Yousuf Shah, left his home, “but remained steadfast on his stand, mission, and pledged made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.†He said that Abdul Qadir Khan brought revolution in 1931 and sacrificed his life for the revolution which started the era of struggle. He said that unity was the need of the hour. He said AAC would remain firm on its stand like a rock and its doors are open for everybody. He said AAC would continue to represent the emotions and aspirations of Kashmiris.
The Mirwaiz claimed that Kashmir issue was a reality and economic packages and money can no way changed its disputed status. He also congratulated Mian Nawaz Shairef for winning elections in Pakistan and paid Khiraa-e-Tehseen to the people of Pakistan for voting for democracy in difficult times. Recounting his recent visit to Pakistan, he said that during his meeting with Sharief, it was assured to Hurriyat (M) delegation that PML (N) would give importance to Kashmir issue and would do all efforts to resolve this problem according the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris.
The Mirwaiz said Kashmiris have nothing against Indian people, but they issues with they Indian establishment. He also expressed his regret saying that state government completely failed to protect Afzal Guru and is now “shedding crocodile tears unlike the state govt of Punjab and Tamil Nadu.â€
The Hurriyat (M) Chairman said that Mou-e-Muqadas Action Committee was formed in 1964 and that all the leaders played their role for the release of National Conference leader Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who was in jail that time. “But what Sheikh did after his release is that he broke the Committee and later entered into an accord with India in 1975. NC has been ditching people of Jammu and Kashmir since 1947,†he alleged.
Apart from Mirwaiz, Advocate Nazir Ahmad Ronga, Mohammad Shafi Khan, MS Shamas and hundreds of other people participated in the seminar.
