Srinagar: Reacting to the statement of A G Noorani wherein he had suggested to resolve Kashmir dispute through Musharf-formula, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani Thursday said that Noorani has ignored the historical facts and has distorted realities with respect to Kashmir and denied the role played by Mohhamad Ali Jinah.

In a statement to KMW News while blaming Noorani for his deliberate attempt to tarnish factual events with respect to history and vexed Kashmir dispute, Geelani out rightly rejected Musharaf formula saying that statement is aimed at to create confusion.
Reffering to Noorani’s remarks wherein he claimed that late Jinnah created impediments in plebiscite move, Geelani said that Pakistan though approved the plebiscite, but as matter of fact had its reservations with respect to the role played by late Sheikh Mohammad Abdulah.
Defending the contribution of Jinah, the Hurriyat (G) chairman reiterated that neither Jinnah was afraid of results nor he ever opposed the resolution of plebiscite. Rejecting the four-point Musharaf formula, Geelani said that people of Jammu and Kashmir won’t accept any formula other than resolutions passed in United Nations and reaffirmed its stand that “Kashmir as a nation would oppose any such move aimed at to maintain status quo.”
While referring to history Geelani said that Jinnah was surprised as per formula adopted by India, Pakistan, state of Jammu & Kashmir “with its Muslim majority need not to adopt the plebiscite formula as rules and regulations enacted for states, Jammu and Kashmir was likely to annex with newly emerged state Pakistan.”
While clearing the misgivings he said the statement does not hold any truth and “Jinnah too agreed with the idea but in his proposal had suggested that respective governor generals of both countries after assuring the withdrawal of Indian and Tribal forces would supervise the plebiscite move.”
“Jinnah disapproved the authority of Sheikh Abdullah as administrator, as the former had developed close relations and intimacy with the then Indian Prime Minister Jawahir Lal Nehru. Keeping in view the intimacy between the two leaders, Pakistan and Jinnah were reluctant to and had cast doubt regarding the sincerity of late Sheikh Abdullah. Keeping in view the situation there were apprehensions that Sheikh Abdulah may favour India and his open and favourable stand in favour of India too had created doubt about his approach and added that as a member of the Indian delegation in Security Council were also responsible about the possible approach of Sheikh Abdullah,” he claimed.
Geelani disapproved the theory that due to apathy and indifferent attitude exhibited by Jinnah compelled Sheikh Abdullah to sign the instrument of accession with India. “Sheikh Abdulah had contrary to aspirations of his colleges adopted unconstitutional and unethical move and changed the very Muslim character of Muslim Conference when he contrary to other political leaders converted Muslim Conference to National Conference,” he added.
Referring to the Sheikh’s autobiography”Aatish Chinar” Geelani said that Abdullah too had agreed that Jinnah had asked him to review and consider his stand, “but ignored the plea and signed the instrument of accession with India.”
He termed the statement of Noorani as lame excuse and expressed his grief over the statement wherein Noorani had denied that he has any information about the incursion of Indian forces and added that it accounts to denial or refuting the historical facts. “It would in no way conceal the history and even a student knows and are well-versed with the fact that no one can dare to deny the history. On 27 October 1947 sorties after sorties of Indian forces landed on this land and occupied it,” he said.
The Hurriyat (G) chairman said future of Jammu and Kashmir is yet to be determined and Noorani while advising the people of Jammu and Kashmir to give up their demand and rely on Musharaf formula has made a mockery of aspirations and sacrifices laid by the people. “People have strived for the pious cause and laid unparallel sacrifices and added that people won’t give up their demand for self determination and holding of plebiscite under the aegis of United Nations is prim concern for us. Indian authorities should admit that they with their power of arrogance cannot suppress the aspiration and they have to understand that as per natural phenomenon the situations never remain all the same,” he added.
