Secretary Shashanka Ala interacts with IIS Probationers

Leh, March 18: A group of Indian Information Service (IIS) probationers today interacted with Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, Ms. Shashanka Ala, at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat, as part of their Bharat Darshan programme.

The delegation comprised 24 Officer Trainees of IIS Group ‘B’ currently undergoing their Foundation Course at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.

As part of their training, the officer trainees are on an All-India study tour (Bharat Darshan) from March 15 to March 21, 2026, with their Leh visit scheduled from March 18 to March 20.

At the outset, a brief introduction session was held during which the IIS probationers introduced themselves and apprised Ms. Shashanka Ala of their training schedule and objectives of the Bharat Darshan programme.

During the interaction, Ms. Ala shared emphasised the crucial role of effective communication in governance and public outreach, especially in a geographically and culturally unique region like Ladakh.

Encouraging the young officers, Ms. Ala underscored the importance of responsible and transparent dissemination of information in strengthening democratic institutions and bridging the gap between the government and the public.

The IIS probationers expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to visit Ladakh and interact with senior officials, stating that such engagements provide valuable exposure to the functioning of administration in remote and strategically important regions.

Ms. Shashanka Ala conveyed her best wishes to the IIS probationers for their future careers.
