Secretary Home, DG Prisons Visit Kotbalwal

Jammu, 3 March(KMW): Accompanied by Director General of Police, Prisons Principal Secretary to Home R. K. Goyal yesterday visited Central Jail Kotbalwal. He was accompanied by DG Prisons Dilbagh Singh.

During the course of visit, he took rounds of various blocks to asses the living standard of the inmates and what they require.

He also visited Special Care Hospital having a capacity of 10 Beds for health care of Jail Inmates and had interactions with doctors and the staff. Goyal enquired about requirements of medical unit and assured that round the clock medical facilities would be further strengthened.

He emphasized that medical unit should be properly equipped with required machinery, so that Inmates have proper medical care. He took note of deficiencies of staff and equipment in the hospital.

Cook house and food prepared for the Inmates was inspected. Goyal expressed his satisfaction.

e-Court facility created in the Jail which was tested on trial basis on 2nd March with respect to District Court Srinagar/Jammu, Central Jail Srinagar/Central Jail Jammu Kotbhalwal by Hon’ble Justice Alok Aradhe and Hon’ble Justice A. M. Magray alongwith Principal Secretary Home, DG Prisons, Session Judge Srinagar/Jammu, Secretary Information Technology, DIG Prisons, Superintendent Central Jail Jammu/ Central Jail Srinagar was also reviewed and found to be quite well prepared and in state of readiness. issues related to connectivity and functionality are under process for its launch soon.

The Principal Secretary noted down certain issues to be dealt with on priority basis to improve overall security, infrastructure and living conditions of Jail Inmates. He also complimented jail authorities for due attention paid to maintenance and cleanliness of the jail premises.
