Srinagar, March 08: Unidentified gunmen shot dead father of PDP sarpanch at Awantipora village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district late Saturday evening, police officials told.
They said that suspected militants fired upon Ghulam Mohdammad Dar (82) son of Abli Dar of Dogripora village of Awantipora late this evening near his home. He was returning home after (ISHA) prayers.
“Dar, father of PDP sarpanch Mohd Shaban Dar, was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,†he said.
It is beleived that gunmen mistook him as Sarpanch even there was no official confirmation to this extent.
Meanwhile, Army, Special Operation Group of Police and CRPF cordoned off the area and launched the hunt to nab the suspected militants. (GNS)
