Abortive bid on Army officer in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 9 (KMW): Militants made abortive bid on the life of a senior Army officer when they opened fire on his cavalcade in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said here today.

They said the ultras attacked the cavalcade of Commanding Officer (CO) of 32 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at village Kushpora, Rafiabad, in north Kashmir district of Baramulla from nearby forests last evening.

Troops also retaliated and the exchange of fire continued for some time before the militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
