Sagar tours far flung areas of district Srinagar

Took stock of post snowfall situation, availability of essentials

SRINAGAR: To provide basic facilities to people at their doorsteps, the Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar accompanied by the District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Baseer Ahmad Khan and senior officers of the district administration conducted an extensive tour of far flung areas of Faqir Gujri, Dara, New Theed, Theed, Jag Dara, Gundthal in Srinagar district today.
The Minister assessed the post snowfall situation in these areas and reviewed the availability of foodgrains, restoration of water, power supply and availability of health facilities to the locals during his tour. He also inspected the Sale Centres of CAPD and reviewed the distribution process of kerosene oil and cooking gas there.
Mr. Sagar interacted with various public delegations enroute and enquired about the problems being faced by them. He directed the concerned authorities to make every effort to provide basic amenities to the people. He also directed the PDD authorities to install electricity transformer at Faqeer Gujri forthwith.
The Minister was informed that snow clearance in Faqeer Gujri has been completed and all roads and link roads have been restored.
Mr. Sagar was informed that during current month 60,000 quintals of rice, 4,000 quintals of sugar and 5,000 quintals of flour has been distributed among the consumers of the Srinagar district. He was also informed that currently the district has 16,000 quintals of rice in stock.
The Minister was informed that a water supply scheme is coming up in Theed at Rs. 2.40 crore which will provide drinking water facility to three villages of the area. (KMW News)
