SRINAGAR: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar today laid foundation stone of new Shrine complex of Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Mehboob-ul-Aalam at Makhdoom Mandow, Kalashpora, Srinagar. The said place has a historical background that the renowned saint Mehboob-ul-Aalam has offered prayers for more than 12 years at this location.
Over Rs. 1.90 crore are being spent on the construction of the shrine by Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Rs. one crore will be utilized at the first instance on its construction.
Addressing a public gathering on the occasion, Mr. Sagar said that Valley of Kashmir has remained abode of saints and Aulia Kiram adding we should follow their teachings.
Mr. Sagar said that various shrines have been either reconstructed or renovated for last so many years in the city. He said all the religions teach us brotherhood and communal harmony and we should develop the habit of serving others.
Referring to the unemployment problem, Mr. Sagar said that a vigorous campaign would be launched in every constituency of Srinagar city to absorb the local youth in Police department in due course of time.
The Minister said that libraries would be established at all the shrines, adding one such library has been already set up at the shrine of Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arifeen and another is being set up at Khanyar in the shrine of Gous-ul-Aazam to facilitate the people to acquaint themselves with teachings of Islam.
Referring to the people’s problems, the Minister assured that all the genuine demands would be fulfilled in a phased manner.
Mr. Sagar applauded the functioning of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and stressed for timely completion of ongoing projects in Srinagar city.
Those who spoke threw light on the teachings of Aulia Kiram on the occasion include Vice Chairman, Muslim Auqaf Trust, Mr. M.Y. Qadiri, prominent religious scholars, Mr. Khursheed Ahmad Kanoongo, Mr. Mohammad Tayub Kamli and Peerzada Shahid Makhdoomi.
