Sagar inaugurates Model Village at Aham Sharief Bandipora

SRINAGAR: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Ali Mohammad Sagar today laid foundation stone of Model Village at Aham Sharief in Bandipora which will be coming up at the cost of Rs. 3.50 crore. The said village will be equipped with common facility centre, Information centre, Shopping Complex, Panchayat Ghar and a recreation park besides other facilities.
MLA Bandipora, Nizam-u-Din Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, M.A Lone, Director Rural Development Kashmir, Jehangir Mir Panchayat Members, Senior citizens, district officers and people were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the coalition government is committed for sustainable development of all the regions of the State, adding various welfare programme and development projects are under execution for achieving this goal. He said government successfully in conducting Panchayat election in the state and powers have been transferred to Panchs and Sarpanchs and opined that these functionaries will work wholeheartedly for the welfare of their areas. He said there is no dearth of funds for execution of Model village projects and other schemes and maintained that all works shall be completed within a time frame.
Mr. Sagar said that 14 lakh tourists visited this year owing to peaceful atmosphere in the Valley and asked the people to extend their support so that the development scenario of the State is speeded up.
The Minister said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is of the opinion that all political issues be solved by the dialogue and this process between two neighboring countries can lead to amicable settlement of this issue, which he said, can lead to prosperity in the State.
He said that the government has taken a number of steps for providing employment in the remote areas of the state through launching of MG NREGA scheme and presently 679 works at the estimated cost of Rs. 11.43 crore have been taken in hand in Bandipora while 203 works have already been completed in the district. He said that under NREGA scheme 3 lakh employment days have been generated till now to the unemployed persons in the district.
The Minister said that the government has already initiated a number of schemes for tackling the unemployment problem. He impressed upon the youth to avail the benefits of the SKEWPY already launched by the government.
Earlier, the Minister paid obeisance at the Dargah of Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arifeen and prayed for the development and prosperity of the state.
