Rs. 18 Cr provided under SGSY: Sagar

SRINAGAR: Minister for Rural Development, Law and Panchyati Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar has asked the officers to ensure speedy implementation of SGSY so that the local Self Help Groups are provided with the necessary assistance.

The Minister was speaking at an officers’ meeting convened to discuss the implementation of Swaran Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojna (SGSY)here today.
Project Officers, bankers and representatives of various self help groups of the Valley were present in the meeting.
Mr Sagar while asking the bankers to ease the modalities of extending the loan facilities to the Self Help Groups said they should ensure that they get the necessary assistance within the shortest possible time. He also directed the officers to maintain a close liaison with the bankers to ease the process of providing financial assistance to the groups.
The Minister while directing the officers to ensure that the benefits of the schemes are extended to the Self Help Groups as it can go a long way in providing the much needed employment opportunity to the people especially the youth of the State. He said that we have to ensure that the benefits of various schemes of the department reach the targeted populace and the funds earmarked are used judiciously.
It was given out in the meeting that an amount of Rs. 18 crore has been extended as loan to 634 Self Help Groups, besides 3546 individual cases under the flagship programme. (KMW News)
