Inaugurates Rs 35 lakh NH-Najwal road link.
JAMMU: Minister for Industries and Commerce Mr. S. S. Slathia has reiterated the government’s commitment to provide all the required basic amenities to the people and equitable development of all the three regions of the state.
Addressing a series of public gatherings at Jakh, Najwal, Salmeri, Chak Doulat and Gupwal in district Samba, after inaugurating newly constructed Rs. 35 lakh link road from National Highway (NH) to Najwal in Vijapur Jammu today, the Minister said provision of better road connectivity especially hitherto unconnected and in-accessible areas is the top priority of the Government as it was imperative for mobilizing business and economic activities. “Better drinking water and educational facilities to the people are equally high on the agenda of the Government,†Mr. Salathia said while soliciting people’s whole hearted support and cooperation in implementation of various state and central development projects and welfare schemes.
Mr. Slathia said that due to innovative initiatives taken up by the present government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah, the state is on the threshold of a big economic and development revolution. “ Not only on development front, but empowering people at gross root level is equally among the top priorities of the Government and holding of Panchayti elections in the state, enactment of public Services Gaurantee Act, Right to Information Act and Strengthing of Accountability Commission and state vigilance Commission are same landmark initiatives taken by Omar Sahib in this regard.
The Minister also inaugurated newly constructed lanes and drains at Salmeri village which have been constructed at a cost of Rs 12 lakh under CDF scheme. He also inaugurated link road at Gupwal and announced a lavatory block at Najwal village. The Minister announced Rs. 50 lakh for upgradation and beautification of Pond at Jakh, adding that the village would be developed as a major tourist destination. (KMW News)
