Srinagar: Like elsewhere in the country, the Kashmiri Pandit living in the Valley celebrated Ramnavmi, the birthday of Lord Ram, with tradition fervor and gaiety.
Pandits including children and women thronged Ramji Mandir at Barbarshah in the city and few other temples to offer Pooja and perform rituals. Hindu Welfare Society had organized the Pooja programme.
An improved weather in the afternoon facilitated hassle-free Pooja rituals at temples across Kashmir. Reports said that the festival was also observed at North and South Kashmir temples with fervor and gaiety.
“On this occasion Pandits seek blessings of Lord Ram. Today we also prayed for return of peace to the turbulent Kashmir region,†Ramesh a resident of Anantanag who visited Barabar Shah temple here told Agence India Press.
He said that migrant Kashmiri Pandits were eager to return to valley and live along Kashmiri Muslims, which they used to do until militancy broke out in valley.
