Railway policeman succumbed to injuries

Srinagar, August 12: A railway policeman who was injured in a militant attack near Malangpora railway Track in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district succumbed to injuries hours after he admitted in sub-district hospital at Pampore .

A senior police official told the railway policeman Rajinder Singh (45) son of Uttam Singh, a resident of Kaglora Tral was admitted in Pampore hospital soon after he sustained serious injuries in the attack.

However, late in the evening Rajinder succumbed to injuries.

Rajinder is survived by parents, wife, three daughters (two of whom are unmarried) and a school going son, the official said, adding that the younger brother of Rajindera also lost his life after their houses gutted in a fire incident last year.

Ahead of August 15 celebrations, militants have stepped up their attacks against government forces.

Reliable sources in police department told that forces have been asked to remain extra vigilant to combat with the possible militant strikes ahead of Independence day. (GNS)
