Srinagar: At least 20 passengers were injured when a train from Qazigund to Srinagar derailed in south Kashmir today, official sources said.
They said a train from Qazigund in south Kashmir to Srinagar was about to stop at Zadoora station when it suddenly derailed.
About 20 passengers were injured, they said, adding had the train not been at a very low speed, the casualty would have been more.
The injured have been rushed to hospital, they said.
An inquiry has been initiated into the cause of derailment.
This was the first such incident in the Kashmir valley since the commencement of railway service on October 11, 2008.
