New Delhi: Pakistan illegally possesses 78,000 sq km of Indian territory in Jammu and Kashmir since 1948, the Government informed the Lok Sabha today.
Moreover it had illegally ceded 5,180 sq km to China in PoK under the so-called ‘China-Pakistan Boundary Agreement of 1963’, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna told the House in a written reply to a question.

China also is in possession of 38,000 sq km of Indian territory since the war of 1962.
However, Bangladesh is in illegal occupation of Indian land, but since independence there have been pockets along the India-Bangladesh border which have traditionlly been under the possession of people of one country in the territory of another country known as ‘adverse possession’, said Mr Krishna.
He sought to stress that these boundary issue were bilateral matter and India would accept no third party intervention or discussion of these issues in the international fora.
